Tips to help people with intellectual disability visit the doctor each year, from Inclusion Australia

📆 You could choose a date that’s easy to remember, like your birthday or grand final time and make your appointment at the same time each year.

🎄 Sam knows that she needs a special breast scan every year just before Christmas, so she makes an appointment with her GP in December for a general check-up too.

🤔 It helps her remember.

👨‍⚕️ Her son Ben goes to the GP in February, just before his birthday every year for a full check-up.

📝 He talks about the visit with a trusted worker and they write down questions in his My Health Matters folder before the appointment.
