We’ve probably all done it - called ourselves an “idiot” for forgetting something, or referred to a certain President in Eastern Europe as “insane”. We’ve probably even yelled at our kids when they can’t find something in front of them “Are you blind?”. So, all of these slurs and insults are *ableist*, along with hundreds of others. And every time we use one, we add to the degradation and humiliation and hurt of disabled people. When we call someone “stupid”…
